Medusa is one of the most well known figures of ancient Greece mythology. Her prominent elements are her snake-like hair and her gaze, which turns those who look at her to stone.

Medusa was beautiful priestess of Athena who was cursed for breaking her vow of celibacy. In some myths, she was raped by Poseidon and in other she had an affair with him. Athena punished her by turning her into a hideous hag and making her hair into writhing snakes.

Medusa was punished for the crime of which she was the victim.

In 2018, the re-imagined Medusa of Luciano Garbati holding the head of Perseus (the “hero” who was sent to kill her) became a symbol of resistance and the “me too”worldwide, inspiring thousands of women to reach out and share their own stories. In 2020, the Medusa With The Head of Perseus was installed directly across from the New York County Criminal Court, the location of high profile abuse cases including the recent Harvey Weinstein trial.

The MEDUSA necklace's length is 17.81in./450mm with an extender chain up to 19.6in/50cm, without the pendant. The Medusa pendant has a diameter approximately 0,8 inches height (20 mm).

The necklace is made from a Stainless Steel pendant and a Stainless Steel Foxtail chain. Stainless steel jewelry is strong, durable, rust-resistant and very affordable.

Our metal components are made from silver/gold/rose gold plated zamak unless stated otherwise. All our metals are lead free and nickel free.

Zamak is a high quality alloy with a base metal of zinc and alloying elements of aluminium, magnesium, and copper. It is a hypoallergenic material that gets dipped in silver and gold.

We use the finest quality of leather, faux leather, silk, cotton elastic string and crystals to make high quality, safe and durable jewelry.

Please note that color and size of products may vary slightly as we use semi precious stones and metal casting products which are not all exactly the same. Many of the semi precious stones and the gemstones are being coated to improve their natural color and luster. This is a common practice in the cutting and treatment of the gemstones and it doesn’t lower their quality. Avoiding contact with any chemicals, strong perfumes or water will help you preserve their beauty.

All natural stones are subject to natural inclusions and vary slightly in colour and cut.

CARE INSTRUCTIONS

All metal tarnish over time, even pure silver. Gold/silver plated findings (charms, pendants, clasps, beads, chains, jump rings etc) may tarnish if they are exposed to humidity for an extended time, or if they get in contact with alcohol, which is found in perfumes. To preserve longevity, store your jewelry in a dry place and avoid spraying perfume or alcohol based body lotion near them.

SHIPPING

All orders are shipped from Athens, Greece via ELTA postal service, packed in protective bubble mailers.

We use International and Domestic Priority Mail. International Priority mail is normally delivered to European Union countries in three working days following the day of their posting, and to the rest of the World in 3-5 days.

Delivery times depend on delivery times within the destination country, as determined by the Postal Service of each country.
